Hi, I'm Marcus Boeltz

I’m a drummer, a dreamer, and a lifelong student of music. My career has taken me from flipping Burgers at the Philadelphia Connection to performing on TV with Morten Harket of a-Ha and playing festivals in front of 30,000 people. These days I write books and focus on drumming education.

My Journey

Born and raised in Ellwangen, Germany, I began my drumming journey at 14. My dedication led to my first professional gig by 18, and in 1998, I moved to Los Angeles to study at the Los Angeles Music Academy (now LACM).

After graduation I stayed in California. The "L.A. dream" wasn't all glamour — I spent my days flipping burgers and clearing tables at the Philadelphia Connection in Pasadena, and my nights rehearsing and gigging. It paid off; soon I was playing all over town, with my band Franki Baaz even hitting the college radio charts.

Since returning to Germany and settling in Munich, my career has moved forward. From studio sessions with Darkseed to sharing the TV stage with legends like Morten Harket and Melissa Etheridge, the journey has been incredible.

Beyond the drum kit, I am an accomplished composer and producer. My credits include scoring the film Spirit Game - Pride of a Nation for Oscar-nominated director Peter Spirer, producing a season trailer for The Walking Dead, and providing music for major Counter-Strike events in the U.S. To keep this site focused on my drumming, I’ve moved my production portfolio to a dedicated website; however, you can view my scoring references [here].
